This award that will be presented to the winner of FalastinVision 2025.
It symbolizes the quest for liberation from the attempts of sinister forces to stifle creativity, deny freedoms and to make culture invisible. It shows the wanton destruction put upon the Palestinian peoples shoulders by the western powers, willing to destroy it´s own ”world order” for in the nothing since Palestine will be free.
The artist behind this work of art, Michel Rowinski, has tried to illustrate how the world might try to box us in try to make others forget about us but we will always break free not matter the destruction or the restraints put on us. Just like Palestine always will become free from the river to the sea. We will smash through and through.
There is no force in the world strong enough to prevent it. Neither colonial power or fascistic regimes can stop the stream of support from growing to a mighty river that will break through its constraints
A metal box that is wielded shut on all but one corner might seem strong, and still getting beaten and attacked and deprived of life as the outer metal surface shows. But neither steel, stone nor rubble can forever stop those forced to huddle. The force will develop that shall then spring up and smash through and show you and I that spirit cannot be destroyed, it will endure though hardship and pain until it gains a future.
The rubble on top, parts of sea shells and small rocks is to show the connections to the sea , pieces of brick that tells the tale of the destruction in Gaza of what has once been built and is now destroyed until it yet again will be rebuilt just like this prize was.
It took many attempts to make and sometimes it broke from power outages from filament stopping or by wind blowing the supports away but just like how this prize symbolizes the unbroken spirit of the Palestinians so does how it was made in the end. But every time stronger with a new story to add to its creation.
As just like things sometimes might fall to pieces but then much later get put back together again so have pieces fallen off from this prize but then gotten put back together again (which a close inspection still will reveal) and so will the Palestinian people once again rebuild.
Rebuild from the rubble and ashes but never to forget but cherish the scars and memories and realize there is no perfection in the struggle and little judgment if strength is to be accumulated and all forms and sizes are need in the fight.
And Just like all other walls put up by oppressors have fallen sooner or later so will the walls put up around Falastin also crumble, to loose parts of brick and mortar and then turn to dust.
To symbolize this march of history’s inevitability an actual piece of another repressive famous wall, the Berlin Wall, has been put inside the Prize and the winner will be able to hear it move around when moving the prize. The moving of time inevitability ever closer to the end of this particular part of history and the coming freedom of Falastin.
