🇵🇸 Hummus (حمّص) is Palestinian. Full stop.
Before it was a grocery store snack or a cafe trend, hummus was a sacred staple on Palestinian tables—served with love, history, and resistance.
🥄 Chickpeas, tahini, lemon, garlic. Simple ingredients, ancient roots. In Palestine, hummus isn’t just food—it’s sumud (steadfastness), it’s land, it’s memory.
But this isn’t just a delicious dip—it’s a site of struggle.
⚠️ Israeli branding has long tried to erase Palestinian identity from the food they created. Claiming hummus as “Israeli” while occupying and displacing its original makers isn’t innovation—it’s colonization.
The so-called “Hummus Wars” aren’t about ego. They’re about existence.
And Palestinians are still here—making hummus like their ancestors, with stories in every bite.
✨ What you can do:
✅ Call hummus what it is—Palestinian.
✅ Support Palestinian farmers, producers & food businesses—those keeping culture alive under occupation.
✅ Share the plate, share the truth. Every dish tells a story. Don’t let theirs be rewritten.
📸: This is their hummus. From their land. With their hands. And they’ll keep making it—because Palestine lives.
